“Not yet! Maximus: My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.” The Gladiator said.

Oddly spartan for this movie about a gladiator having the ultimate sacrifice. There are many things I could say about this film. The music to me stands out far more.

Here is the premise of the plot…Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) takes power and strips rank from Maximus (Russell Crowe), one of the favored generals of his predecessor and father, Emperor Marcus Aurelius, the great stoical philosopher. Maximus is then relegated to fighting to the death in the gladiator arenas.

The film was directed by Ridley Scott and the score was performed by Hans Zimmer.
