“I go to the hills when my heart is lonely,
I know what I’ll hear what I’ve heard before.
My heart will be blessed with the sound of music,
And I’ll sing once more.” Quoted Maria.
This is such a heartwarming film, directed by Robert Wise. Considering its a Rodgers & Hammerstein production. Its humor, music and amazing cinematography are awed by millions. The film is loosely based upon the story of the Vontrapp Family Singers.
The plot of the movie is concise this way…A tuneful, heartwarming story, it is based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world’s best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. Julie Andrews plays the role of Maria, the tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children, and brings a new love of life and music into the home.
It is by far one of my favorite musicals of all time. Yes, I like musicals.
You can find the soundtrack on Amazon.
You can also find it on ITunes.
