“Elora Danan must survive. She must fulfill her destiny and bring about the downfall of Queen Bavmorda. Her powers are growing like an evil plague. Unless she is stopped, Bavmorda will control the lives of your village, your children, everyone. All creatures of good heart need your help, Willow. The choice is yours,” Cherlindrea said.

This late 80’s fantasy directed by a young Ron Howard and written by George Lucas, is unlike any movie before.  What is unusual about this movie is the fact that a dark fantasy can have a peaceful end.

Here is the basic plot…Enter the world of “Willow.” Journey to the far corners of your imagination, to a land of myth and magic, where dream and reality live side by side … to a place that never existed, a time that never was. It is a world where a young man named Willow lives out an adventure that explodes beyond the boundaries of his own hopes and fears.

The casting is excellent, we have Warwick Davis, Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley, and Jean Marsh. It gives us enjoyable characters in an underated film.

I thought this movie was fun and fantastical. Its difficult to find the film on dvd.

The score was composed by James Horner, who is no longer alive.  His music still affects many.

You can find the soundtrack on Amazon.

You can also find the theme from the James Horner Film Music Collection on ITunes.
