“You’re the same. No matter where you go, there you are. It’s always the same old you. Let me suggest that you take a vacation from yourself. I-I know it sounds wild. It is the latest thing in travel. We call it the Ego Trip,” Bob McClaine replied.
One of the best 90’s movies directed by Paul Verhoeven who directed Robocop and Starship Troopers. Total Recall was based upon the short story by Phillip K. Dick.
It keeps up the violence and action that a Verhoeven film gets. It also gives us comedy and weirdness that doesn’t exist in the story. I really enjoyed Arnold Schwartzenegger in this film, he brought the role to life!
Here is the basic plot…Douglas Quaid (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is a bored construction worker in the year 2084 who dreams of visiting the colonized Mars. He visits “Rekall,” a company that plants false memories into people’s brains, in order to experience the thrill of Mars without having to travel there. But something goes wrong during the procedure; Quaid discovers that his entire life is actually a false memory and that the people who implanted it in his head now want him dead.
The best part of the movie is the ending, if you are a science fiction fan, you must see this film for the goofiness and enjoyability of it.
The score was composed by Jerry Goldsmith and he gives us a metallic score with other worldly sounds for the soundtrack score. Its a very enjoyable and notable score.
