Today on Soundtrack Alley Spotlight, I’ll be going a bit deeper in depth discussing The Hunt for Red October from 1990. I’ve never read the book by Tom Clancy. I have to admit that, however I’m a huge fan of some of the films based on his books, Netforce, The Hunt for Red October, Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games, The Sum of All Fears and I think that is it. I really admire this film for its clear direction and its definitive cinematography and sound editing in the film. I think it’s one of the best adaptations of the novels, at least in my opinion.

Today you’ll hear me discuss the plot and a lot regarding the score by Basil Poledouris. Basil Poledouris no longer is with us, but his scores are very prolific. Conan the Barbarian, The Destroyer, Flesh and Bone, Cherry 2000, and Starship Troopers just to name a few movies that he has scored.
