” I am not what is called a civilized man, Professor. I have done with society for reasons that seem good to me. Therefore, I do not obey its laws.” said Captain Nemo.

A Whale of a Tale by Jules Verne. An adventure third in the making in a series of books.

Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Mysterious Island, and Finally Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea are the order in which to read the books by Jules Verne.

The movie put out by Disney was fantastical and gave you a feeling of steampunk adventure.

Here is the basic plot…In 1866, Professor Pierre M. Aronnax (Paul Lukas) and his assistant Conseil (Peter Lorre), stranded in San Francisco by reports of a giant sea monster attacking ships in the Pacific Ocean, are invited to join an expedition to search for the creature. During the search, they and harpooner Ned Land (Kirk Douglas) are thrown overboard during an attack, eventually discovering that the supposed monster is actually a submarine piloted by the brilliant but haunted Captain Nemo (James Mason).

The film was directed by Richard Fleischer.

The score was composed by  Paul Smith.
