“Listen Seymour. Just because you put a strange and interesting plant in the window doesn’t mean that it’ll bring customers!”

This is a fun musical based on the broadway musical by the same name. You have actors like Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene, Steve Martin, James Belushi, Bill Murray, Christopher Guest and many more.

The music is actually sung by the actors, just like in a real broadway musical, its just got a better cinematic feel, being a movie.

What is the plot of this hole in the wall horror comedy?  Here you go…Meek flower shop assistant Seymour (Rick Moranis) pines for co-worker Audrey (Ellen Greene). During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After Seymour feeds Audrey’s boyfriend, Orin (Steve Martin), to the plant after Orin’s accidental death, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant.

The film was directed by Frank Oz, a real awesome guy if you ask me. You know him…He’s the voice of Yoda and many other muppets throughout the years.

The songs of the film were composed by Howard Ashman and Alan Menkin, another duo you don’t find apart when making soundtracks for classic Disney films like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Alladin, Mulan, and The Lion King.

I think this film is actually great! It has a feeling of dark humor that you get from early Tim Burton movies like Beetlejuice and the like.

You can find the soundtrack on Amazon.

You can also find it on ITunes.
