“Why are they doing this? Why are they doing this? They said when you got here the whole thing started. Who are you? What are you? Where did you come from? I think you’re the cause of all of this. I think you’re evil. EVIL!” A Mother in a Diner said to Melanie.

Have you ever had a fear of Birds? What would it be like? Why would birds be so frightening? Well, Alfred Hitchcock gives us the ultimate in bird fear. With The Birds you get a thriller with romance intertwined and then the unexplained reason why so many birds are in one area at the one time.

The scoring of the film is very striking. Thomas Bergen did the music and it gives you an eerie feeling through the composition of the musical themes.

What is The Birds about you might ask?

Here is the basic plot…Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) meets Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor) in a San Francisco pet store and decides to follow him home. She brings with her the gift of two love birds and they strike up a romance. One day birds start attacking children at Mitch’s sisters party. A huge assault starts on the town by attacking birds.

The whole idea of The Birds comes from the story by Daphne du Maurier. who also wrote Rebecca, The Scapegoat and Don’t Look Now.

There are no links to the actual score for this movie, however there are many clips on Youtube that give you a feel for the film.
